You know how bunnies are

We want to thank all those who helped sew, stuff, paint, glue the cute little bunnies for our service project. They turned out SO cute. it was a lot of work. How can it be called work when it was SO much fun? I really had fun making these with all of you.

Our hope is that we brought a little ray of sunshine in the lives of these little ones. I will post some pictures as soon as I can get my computer to cooperate.

Prepare your ark pt 2

Okay, I know Feb is more then halfway over. Sorry, this month is crazy. here is your check list for your emergency kits

Add a can opener to your kit
Add 2 cans tuna fish/ canned meat to your kit
Add 1 large roll of paper towels to your kit
add 1 blanket to your kit.

Also, Since Feb is a month filled with all kinds of sweets you should also add sweeteners to your food storage

FEBRUARY ( food storage check list)
Suggested items: White sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, honey, corn syrup, maple syrup, molasses, Kool_aid,and jello.

A #10 can from the dry pack cannery is about 6lbs of sugar. If you want to have storage for 3 months for 1 person, you might buy:
4 #10 cans of sugar from the cannery(24lbs)
or 25 lbs of sugar from the store.

hints: to know how much extra to buy of the other suggested items, figure out how much you go through in a year. the next time you open a new container write the date on it and see how long it takes you to use it up. then you will know approximately how many to buy to last a year.

Kool-aid is good because it can help make your stored water taste better. Be sure to store water in proper containers. And also have sterilization item too.

Getting your" Ark" ready

All I really need to know I learned from Noah's Ark

1. plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

2. Stay fit. when you are 600 yrs. old someone might ask you to do something REALLY big.

3. Don't listen to critics. do what needs to be done

4. For saftey sakes travel in pairs.

5. Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board but so were the snails.

6. When the doo-doo gets really deep, don't sit there and complain-shovel!!

7. Don't forget that we are all in the same boat.

8. remember the wood peckers inside are often a bigger threat then the storm outside.

9. keep in mind that the Ark was built by amatures with the Lords help, while the Titanic was built by professionals.

10. NO MATTER HOW BLEAK IT LOOKS, RAIN IS ALWAYS FOLLOWED BY A RAINBOW.

So, This year one of my new years resoloutions is Not eating that Second slice of cake, no matter how badly I need it! No just kidding who says that?? anyway, seriously I want to make sure I prepare my "Ark". No one really knows when a disaster will strike. be it a massive situation or just a minor. but, one thing is for sure we all need to prepare for the storm that lies ahead. This month as luck would have it I was handed a list on how to put together a 72 hour kit. This to some may seem like an huge task, Thankfully whoever prepared this list read my mind. "Break it down, make it simple" so I am going to post the month by month list. so, by the end of the year we will be ready when the "rain" falls.

JANUARY

week 1 Obtain a suitable 72 hour kit container( backpack, duffel bag, garbage can with lid)

week 2 check the batteries in your smoke detector

week 3 place a flashlight next to your bed and one in alternate location. CHECK BATTERIES

week 4 Add 10 dollars cash to your kit
